The word protect in ABAS Protect is not accidental, but reflects a wide range of aspects inherent in our company values. Protect summarizes in one word our core business of delivering all-encompassing perimeter protection for home owners and industry alike.
Since all human activity affects the environment, we also have a duty to protect nature from misuse and abuse. ABAS Protect is committed to safeguarding the environment by minimizing environmental impact in every production step. We have systematically investigated areas where we may improve efficiency and reduce waste. As a result, we have removed all toxic chemicals and oils from the production.
ABAS Protect shields many of its products against corrosion by hot-dip galvanizing. We galvanize all our products in accordance with UNI-EN 1461:2009 and Swedish environmental protection agency’s general advice 97:4. Special high grade (SHG) zinc of at least 99.995% purity is used in the production, and traces of lead and cadmium are kept below 0.002% and 0.0004% respectively.
Before, lead used to be added to the zinc melt, although this practice has been abandoned in Sweden for environmental reasons. However, lead is to a large extent still added in galvanizing plants in the Far East. In addition, such plants often use zinc with less purity, which may result in high levels of cadmium in the end produtcs.
In Sweden, all hot-dip galvanizing is performed in closed facilities where dust particles are collected in filters, and thus emissions are eliminated.
